They’re more efficient now. Photos are taken on site. Staff is friendlier from previous experiences, and more helpful.

After reading the horrible reviews and listening to the personal testimonies of the absolutely dreadful service and awful mannerisms of this office, I was inclined to expect the worse. I went in prepared to deal with annoyed and angry people. However, I must say I was completely taken aback. It took me about 40 minutes. Everyone was pleasant and you can take your passport photo right there for a cost of $10.00. A great improvement I'd say. However there is always room for improvement so I'd suggest that the microphone systems be fixed because it is hard to hear the clerks in the booth. Other than that I must commend the service. It was a good improvement. For people going to re-new their passports: fill out the form before you go, Pay the $10 and have your photo taken at the consulate since they are likely to not have issues with your photo. Shockingly they now accept credit cards contrary to what the website says. Timing: I'd say go on Wednesday at 12:45. That's the time I went. Whether my good experience was a stroke of luck, I cannot say but ultimately I had a good one and so I have to be fair in my evaluation. Good luck!

They can't authenticate a document, that was done in Guyana. typical birth certificates, marriage certificates or any sort of documentation that needed thier assistant over.

Omg i wish if there was a negative star to rate this place. If you think the passport system in Guyana sucks then go here. The 2 booths for dropping off your passport you have to rejoin the line to pay your money instead of paying it the first time you go to teller. If it helps you can relax and enjoy the unethical attitude of the staff. The guards are by far the most courteous staff there. My experience was the worst that I told them I'm gonna sue them. These people act like they are above the law. It doesn't matter what documents you have to show that you're the parent of the child once both parents isn't present best believe that passport will not be accepted to renew. If you child or children parent isn't alive go dig up the body and show them. They find joy in denying passport renewal once both patents isn't present. For a place that's located in THE BIG APPLE, this consulate need to be closed. Even the passport system in Guyana works better. Never come across such disgraced foolishness like what I've experience today. Just horrible and disgraceful!!!

Worse place ever. After submitting your application and pay your fees you have to wait 1 hour for a receipt. How is that even possible? I have other things to do other than to wait 1 hour just for a receipt.
