I came into this bar before; but, yesterday on Friday evening, I had the worst service I ever had at my visit to Mercury Bar. I was sitting in the front tables. I guess my server was Holly, because that is the name on the check. She seemed to lack a lot of experience. My friends and I were only drinking. And I understand she may want the tables for people who eat food, but just because we are not eating, does not mean we should not get full service.There were many things she did sloppy or wrong nonetheless they were tolerable. My biggest complaint was: She should be aware that the high tables sometimes wobble, and when it does our drinks spill, and on top of that after drinking sticky drinks, she should prepare us with napkins. She could have also occasionally wiped down our table because it is very sticky and uncomfortable. We would have stayed longer, but it was too messy to stay. I worked as a server for many years, and I know that better service was possible, especially since it was not very crowded.
This place has one of the better bartenders in the city. He's thoughtful, friendly, caring and invested in his customers at a personal level with out being disingenuous. He's like this with locals and new people alike.
The food was horrible. I had tenders with buffalo sauce and the sauce tasted funny and the tenders were not hot. I sent them back and order a burger and the burger came out dry and no flavor.. the food end up making me sick. The drinks were nice but I will not eat the food again.. the server tried to remember our order by memory but she kept missing things from our order.. this place needs a serious up grade..
Jay makes magical mojitos. Best I have ever had in my life. Food is good. Customer service is better. Highly recommend.
