My friends and I missed our reservation for comedy cellar and ended up spending the evening in Blue note. Really good music. Their service could do with a little improvement, but the music more than makes up for it.
This place is fairly affordable and the performance I saw was certainly enjoyable on the night I went.
Nonetheless, I did have fun here and would recommend it!
Its a Landmark! Are you feeling Blue and looking for a soundtrack to float it? Come here at least once and you will find ways to come back. The Jazz, what can I say, is superb, and the atmosphere is like a movie set gone real.....and that's cool man, cool.
Great venue. This place has hosted some great acts. They could do a better job with their ticket sales method. The wait staff is not great, nor are the drinks. Perhaps, the wait staff isn't terribly concerned about offering great service because they are counting on guest's over-tipping based on the check total which includes the tickets for the show?
Finally, seating is a bit of a joke. It's so cramped that it's slightly unpleasant. I'd be all for Blue Note charging more for tickets if they took out some tables. You're literally inches from people.
Blue Note is a fun, but flawed, jazz bar.
The food was simply okay. It's somewhere between a diner and a restaurant as far as I'm concerned. I tried their salmon platter, and the fish had a sauce that had a skin forming on it. No idea how long that salmon was sitting in that sauce, but it wasn't appetizing. And it tasted very much like how I'd imagine airline fish would taste. The mac and cheese with it was mushy and fairly bland, too.
always a good time here. Not too fond of the two drink minimum but that's just business I guess. Get there early for good seats
Service was also mixed. Our main waitress was polite and as efficient as could be, but another hostess/waitress came to our table two or three times asking if she could seat strangers next to us, despite us telling her that our friends were on their way. By the second or third time she was visibly annoyed and said she'd sit strangers by 7:30pm if our friends didn't come (they did come in the end).
