That being said, for a quick in and out after work, I can usually get exactly what I need and feel like I'm getting a good deal on price, especially with vegetables, herbs, and coffee.

I avoid their prepared foods, but they have a good number of the healthy brands. Best of all their prices are reasonable for the city.
I think the main area that puts this review more into the realm of 3.5 stars than 4 is that if you have been to say the Fairway in Red Hook, you can easily see that the Chelsea location is maybe 70% of what Fairway can be. The lack of a meat market makes a huge difference to me. At Red Hook you can take advantage of occasional great deals on high quality meats and be able to get custom cuts and weights that you simply can't get at Chelsea.
Nice convienent market with lots of quality items. For some reason I like the store more than whole foods. Line can get long but it moves fast.
This is another great place to shop. The produce is awesome, as well as the other products, they serve fresh sushi and the recently just changed the layout of the store and it looks wonderful. Customer service is great! I've never had a problem there.
They redid the produce area, and have surprisingly good organic options. Sometimes the apples even taste like apples should.
Fairway was right down the street from where I stayed for the weekend on business, and I came to grow fond of it, eventually visiting multiple times over my trip. First, I was pleased to discover a fine selection of organic produce and the like, plus a good supplement section, and anything else I needed. Second, there was actually space and elbow room, as to be relatively relaxed and comfortable (unlike the maniac atmosphere of a Whole Foods or Trader Joe's, that is). Also: friendly service, and no problems. A recipe for success, indeed.
I happen to work near this location, so it is a nice spot for me to go to after work to get ingredients to cook with for the night. The best part is that prices aren't too outrageous, and even in peak times when lines are long you can quickly get out of there.
