The set up is a bit different than they usual NYC multiplex as the theatres were designed to fit the space. The films screened here tend to be independent and interesting.
This structure is an historic landmark because it originally served as one of the Yiddish theatres that were plentiful in this location some years ago.
The staff is friendly and the location is clean and comfortable.
We love this theater! Definitely recommend doing the Village East Cinema Rewards it's free but the points rack up and FREE POPCORN Tuesdays is pretty nice, too! Luxury seating is definitely worth it. Jackie in the bar area is their asset! She gets to know many of us and takes such great care of every
Nice theater that is reasonably priced compared to the others in the city. The seats are okay, but not anywhere near the recliners that we are all getting used to. The atmosphere is awesome with converted play theaters turned into movie theaters. All the carvings and paintings on ceilings and walls are intact and so to are the play balconies.
Great theaters for independent and international feature films and panels. Food wasn't as expensive as in chain cinemas. Definitely felt taken care of.
Surprisingly cool theater. Went for a screening of a smaller film, the atmosphere was great. Kind of run down but that just adds to the charm.
