The part where I was very disappointed, is the level of "expertise" and "care" I expected on my hair by the professionals. There was NO heat protectant applied to my hair, which I'm now noticing the effect it has left on my hair; after 2 weeks of this trim, my hair feels soo fragile, weak and keeps breaking. The way the owner applied the heat and used it to part my hair really disappointed me, but since I thought he knew what he was doing, I trusted in his "expertise" which sorry to say, I regret now because I'm truly really not happy with my overall results. I got more hair cut off then I liked to. The professionals don't really take time to get to know your hair, you and any needs or have any feedback whatsoever, during the wash and conditioning prep to give to you. They rush through the washing so fast and roughly, I don't know why, the owner himself is not very advice-driven when it comes to mantaining the health of your hair or what you can do - besides coming to his salon - to keep up with your hair care.
My first time at this Hair salon and I have to say it was great.
I came in for a trim, and that's exactly what I got. However, before coming in I told him that I did not need a wash or condition because I had done it 2 days previous, but when I got there, he insisted that I should, which I declined again. This caught a me off guard because as a natural hair stylist you should know that it's not particularly healthy to wash your clients hair frequently, especially if you have 4c or any 4 based hair ... it can cause drying and eventually breakage. Also, before coming in he told me that he did not need to apply heat to my hair, that he could cut it in its natural state, (my hair was stretched) but upon sitting in his chair he told me that he needed to blow dry it out before trimming it (no heat protectant applied). Before he started trimming it, I told him that I wanted only 1/8-1/4 of an inch off. To my surprise, he got smart with me and said "how am I suppose to do that? I don't have a measuring tape" (while making eye contact with the other stylist). "You guys watch YouTube and think you know something." I replied "it's not about YouTube,(never mentioned YouTube to him before) I just don't want a lot of my hair cut." Finally, I did not like the way he was parting and combing my hair... he was not gentle and at one point I seen long strand of hair being ripped out of my head because he was so careless and rough.... so yeah, I got a decent trim, but it wasn't worth 45$. The customer service was mediocre, and I didn't get any tips on how to maintain my natural hair (as his website states that I would). So I guess I'll be going back to YouTube for my tips and advice.
But yes I got my long awaited for trim, but not happy with the overall handling of my hair while I was there. Owner said on the phone when I called earlier a week before coming, "we get to know you, you get to know us," but none of his professionals got to know me or my hair especially...it's just a bit overrated. And $90 is way too much for JUST a trim -even the $50 wasn't worth it. Please reconsider these prices if you want to retain customers. Thank you.
I have to really say he was a bit rough with the heat, pulling with the heat comb, and trimming process, it wasn't really methodical..sigh.
I went there to have my hair balanced out and it was very tranquil, the staff was amazing and Patrick is super nice. My hair came out great and is growing quite fast now. I wish I had a before and after photo for all to see how great he really is. I recommend!
For a trim and blow dry I was charged 150. I'll have to find other options that aren't so costly. I get they have rent but damn. I didn't leave the salon feeling my best. They styled my hair even when I said I just wanted a trim that I'm braiding my hair in a day or so. Annoying. I've been here 3 times and everyone Taj would do my hair and is leave feeling great. This time an assistant styled my hair and watched it out when I got home.
I am very picky about my hair and left there feeling like a runway model. Great service!
I think the website over elaborates the level of expertise and professionalism and care the actual salon gives. Reading about it twice beforehand and going in to get a trim at a natural hair salon for the first time was exciting and adventurous, but leaving and now rating the overall look of my hair and how much I spent is very very disappointing. Basically I went in for Only a trim that was wayyyyy above my expected range, I thought $25-45 max, and the owner says it was 90
